Local Beaches

Cornwall is truly a county of unspoiled natural beauty, especially when it comes to its beaches. Local beaches within easy reach include:

Looe - quietly dramatic in winter, hotspot in summer. Looe is a lively fishing port. Safe sandy beach, cafes and ice cream and its famous Banjo Pier (pictured opposite). No dogs allowed. Great fishing and boat trips from the harbour.

Hannaford (Looe) - long, pebbly beach, with great views over Looe Island. Small patches of sand fight for space among rocky outcrops. Great for running your dog (and children). Toilets, tennis, bowling, pub, hotel swimming pool and café just behind the promenade. Superb fishing off White Rock. Dog friendly all year.

Millendreath - small, south-facing sandy cove, very popular with families. Sandy beach with a little jetty to the left hand side. Some rocks pools. Black Rock Café serving great food. No dogs allowed.

Seaton - large sandy beach, located at the end of the pretty Seaton valley (which offers nice shaded walks if the sun gets too much). Popular spot for swimming and body boarding during the summer. Nice café and amenities. Parking right by the beach. Dog friendly all year.

Downderry - wide, sand/shingle, interesting rock pools. Access to the main beach via the path next to toilets or via slipway. Good Pub – Inn on the Shore and great café – Swan Café, both serving great food.

Local Coastal Walks

The South West Coastal Path offers stunning sea views and coastal scenery. You can join the South West Coastal Path just at the bottom of our lane and walk in one direction to Looe, Polperro and on to Fowey and in the other direction to Seaton, Whitsand Bay and the Rame Peninsula.

Why not take a stroll down the wooded valley to Seaton and Downderry and enjoy a meal at a pub or cafe along the way or follow the country lane to Millendreath with spectacular views over Looe Bay and Looe Island.

Or pop in your car and go for a short drive and enjoy the expansive sands of Whitsand Bay - we call it our doggy heaven - an absolute gem. Or sit at Cawsand overlooking the sea.
